Folk-club Voivodintsi
The Folk-club was founded in October 2006.It includes more than 20 members, who are dancing Bulgarian Folk Dances every Thursday in the Cultural Center.Their Dance teacher is Iliana Bozhanova.
Their repertoire includes more than 40 dances. For major events the Ensemble invites additional musicians. All members of EnsembleVoivodintsi are amateurs, whether dancers, singers or musicians. In their daily lives they are very busy studying and working. Nevertheless, everyone finds time and energy to come to rehearsals after work or school and to practice very hard. The whole group enjoys singing, dancing and just being together. Voivodintsi is not only an ensemble - it is a “folk family,” where everyone shares, celebrates and helps one another. The repertoire of the Ensemble is based on the authentic folk material from different folklore regions of Bulgaria . Iliana Bozhanova’s role is to find and teach interesting songs, dances and rituals that are suited to the abilities of the group’s members, and to enable them to present the folklore to the best of their abilities, as well as enjoy themselves. The Ensemble has eight different sets of folk costumes. The newest children’s and adult's costumes were made by several women, who are parents or members of the group and Iliana's mother. Ensemble members work together whenever possible to refresh and repair the costumes themselves. Big events in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008:
Every Christmas,Saint George,Saint Todor and The Holy Ghost Celebration Ensemble Voivodintsi make big performances in Voivodinovo and Zhelyaznovo villages.
“Welcome concerts and dinners” in Voivodinovo on 31 July and 8 August 2005 . Our guests were two groups of folk dancers from Japan and Taiwan led by Masanori Murata and Vincent Hsu. This marked the beginning of a lovely new friendship.
First International Tour – Croatia , in December 2005. The tour was a wonderful and happy experience for all the members of “Voivodintsi”! Concert in honour of the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, visiting the Minicipality of ” Maritsa ”on 25 March,2006.
Performing at the Second Folk Festival of CIOFF, on 3 June 2006 .
The first golden medal for Voivodintsi from the Folk Festival in Nedelino, Smolyan region-03.09.2006.
Opening ceremony for the renovated building of the Cultural center and concert for an American group, led by Roo Lester -19.09.2006.

Concert for the international guests of the Folk Seminar at the Art Academy in Plovdiv-28.07.2007. The first guests from Switzerland visiting the Ensemble and the village – 7-12.10.2007.
Christmas concert in Manolsko Konare village – 23.12.2007. The Biggest award from the Folk Festival "Songs and dances without borders"-Svilengrad - 7.06.2008 The second award from the Children Folk Festival"Slantse ide" in Dren, near Radomir - 21.06.2008 Trakya 2008 - International Folk Project - 60th birthday of Yves Moreau and Hironobu Senzaci - 12.07.2008. Ensemble Voivodintsi was one of the 5 folk ensembles, who were invited to present the Bulgarian folklore in this event in the area Bozhura near Sredets and Burgas. The village of Voivodinovo is situated on the Thracian lowlands 5 km. north of Plovdiv (the second largest city in Bulgaria). It is part of the municipality of ”Maritsa ” in the Plovdiv region. Voivodinovo has about 2,000 residents, who mostly work in the many small, light industrial companies in the village or in Plovdiv . Besides that, the fertile soil of the valley determines the life of the village- many people are involved with agriculture, especially in the production of fruit and vegetables.
Because the big city is nearby and accessible, the young people feel satisfied to remain in the village – they enjoy the best of both worlds. This is very important for the future and the prosperity of Voivodinovo. Contacts
